South Summit Madrid 2022 opened its doors in The ship from Madrid. This three-day event is an international benchmark in the world of startup, meeting point and main connection for entrepreneurs, investors, startup and corporations globally. It celebrates its 10th anniversary by opening innovation to everyone, making the capital a key player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
under the motto decoding complexity, Decoding Complexity, invites participants to simplify the complexity of the increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing world. Sustainable and inclusive products and services help navigate this complexity and harness its power to build the future.
8 new ones will be launched concepts under discussion to transform into actions: intelligence of complex systems, ClimateTech, sustainability, decentralization, innovation & ecosystems, value-based business, FinTech and new dimensions.
The inaugural act had the participation of Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, accompanied by angel child, Councilor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Nadia Calvino, Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation; Maria Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth; Diego del Alcazar, CEO of IE University; and Maria Benjumea, founding president of the South Summit.

The data
South Summit counts, as in previous editions, with the presence of the 100 best startup of the global and national ecosystem, chosen among the more than 3,000 projects from 114 countries presented to the Startup Competition, among which Spain, the US, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Germany, India, Mexico, Colombia, Israel, France or Argentina stand out.
In the 2021 edition all participation records were broken: more than 22,000 physical and virtual attendees; 1,600 investors with a portfolio of approximately 135,000 million dollars; more than 8,000 startup; 680 speakers and 7,000 member corporations.
