Yesterday afternoon, José Luis Martínez-Almeida inaugurated the Pipo Velasco Youth Center, located in the Usera district of the capital.
The mayor of Madrid was accompanied by other members of the municipal corporation and other authorities, such as Ángel Niño, councilor of the Delegated Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Loreto Sordo, president councilor of the Usera District; or José Aniorte, delegate of the Government Area of Families, Equality and Social Welfare, among others.
As part of the opening ceremony, the delegation visited the facilities of the youth center. During this tour, Sonia Moncada, general director of Families, Children, Education and Youth, acted as host and explained the use and target audience of the various spaces and rooms of the center.
This municipal facility offers "healthy leisure and training alternatives for young people and adolescents between 14 and 30 years old" with cultural activities and, within the training part, a space for co-working managed by Madrid Emprende. We have 3 rooms located on the 1st floor of the building, where entrepreneurship will be encouraged and actions related to the development of citizens' ideas and business projects will be promoted.
In this sense, young people from the district will be able to enjoy training, mentoring and talks at this center aimed at awakening and enhancing their entrepreneurial talent with the help of experts and professionals. In open and participatory rooms, training sessions and personalized advice will be provided to start your business.
This space houses a room co-working gratuitous with pre-incubation jobs or shared spaces with a business support and tutoring service. Information is offered on financing programs and aid and subsidies and common services are provided that allow the establishment, take-off and consolidation of your company during the first years of activity. These spaces also have free Wi-Fi.
The preincubation is an advisory and tutoring service for the preparation of the business plan. A personalized and detailed follow-up is carried out on each of the steps to follow to achieve the viability of a business project. It is aimed at all natural persons, of legal age, who have a business idea or a business project without formal registration or incorporation of a company and require support in the development of their plan. The maximum period of stay is 6 months.
The spaces shared They are jobs for companies that have already started their activity. This is a service of temporary and free transfer of jobs for recently created companies, less than five years old. In this case, the maximum period of stay is 1 year.
The center, divided into three floors and free of charge, also offers guidance, counseling and psychological support services for young people.
The mayor recalled the figure of Pipo Velasco, a historic socialist militant and tireless fighter for the young people of Zofío and Usera and for the construction of urban and social facilities. According to Almeida, “a figure that represents a meeting point and it is right that it gives its name to this youth center in Usera.”
