The second edition of the Margarita Salas Research Awards has arrived, organized by the Madrid City Council.
In order to enhance the research work of our scientists, this year 2022, has increased the total financial allocation of the prizes that amount to 99,000 euros, and has included a new category, Environmental sciences.
Aim
Its objective is to award those doctoral theses defended in universities of the Community of Madrid, which stand out for their scientific excellence, the scientific and social interest of the topic, the innovative nature and the practical applications of the research content. Likewise, promote the development of R&D&i projects by promoting the integration of research in the business world.
Participants
Natural persons who present their defended and qualified doctoral theses in the period included in the three calendar years immediately preceding the end date of the application submission period (September 12, 2022) may attend the call.
Doctoral theses that have been winners in the previous call for these awards are excluded.
Categories and awards
This call will award doctoral theses developed in the following categories:
- Sciences basian (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
- Sciences of the life (Biology, Medicine, Agrotechnology, Pharmacy, etc.)
- Sciences environmental (Sustainability, Ecology, Environment, Waste Management, etc.)
The prize in each one of the categories it will consist in:
- First award of 13 000 euros
- Second prize of 6000 euros
- Third prize of 4000 euros
In addition, they may be awarded at the discretion of the jury, four second prizes per category in recognition of the value of those theses that it considers worthy of this distinction, with a financial endowment of 2500 euros each.
A single candidacy may only receive a maximum of two awards: prize and second prize, or two second prizes.
The jury may increase the number of second prizes in other categories in the event that a second prize in a category has been vacated.
Registration deadline
The registration period will remain open until September 12 of 2022 through the procedure enabled in the Electronic Headquarters of the Madrid City Council.
