The first edition of the municipal producers' market is held this Sunday, May 20, in the district of Arganzuela with 36 small producers from Madrid (traders whose farm is located no more than 150 kilometers from the capital). The market is located under the roofs of Planetarium Avenue a few meters from the IMAX and next to Tierno Galván Park and is held on the third Sunday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., promoted by the General Directorate of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the area of Equity, Social Rights and Employment.
Marta Higueras, responsible for the Area, toured last Sunday accompanied by Rommy Arce, Councilor-President of the District of Arganzuela, Concha Díaz de Villegas, General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, the facilities of this municipal market of producers and has justified its start-up march “as a response to the growing demand of consumers to have channels that allow them to directly acquire agri-food products from producers. These markets seek to promote sustainable consumption and quality crafts. And it will also serve to promote job creation, entrepreneurship and environmental care”, he explained.
During today's session you can buy, among other products, oils, meats, vegetables, fruits and natural juices, cheeses, eggs, honey, sweets, preserves, fresh pasta and snacks. In addition, for this edition other activities have been organized such as theme days, product tastings, gastronomic talks and workshops for children.
