Inauguration of the twelfth edition of the European entrepreneurship program Startup Program

Summary

Yesterday the inaugural session of the twelfth edition of the Junior Achievement Foundation program “Startup Program”, initiative developed with the sponsorship of the PwC Foundation  and the Madrid City Council through Madrid Emprende.
 
This program aims to foster the entrepreneurial skills of university students, who enroll with an idea that they can develop with the support and advice of professionals from different key areas, including specialists from the Madrid Emprende incubator network. In this way, during the 2019-2020 academic year, 200 young students from 21 universities will compete with 85 ideas for a place in the European final to be held in Athens in June.
 
The university students participating in the program were welcomed by Blanca Narváez, director of the Junior Achievement Foundation Spain, by Marta Colomina, general director of the PwC Foundation, main partner of the program, and by Ángel Niño Quesada, delegate councilor for Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation of the Madrid City Council, who subsidizes this program with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship in the city .
 
Ángel Niño, in his speech, highlighted the enormous effort that is being made by the City Council so that the culture of entrepreneurship is introduced into all levels of society, including universities, and encouraged the participants to turn their ideas into a great project and this, why not, in a new "unicorn".
 
After an explanation of the objectives and dynamics by Marta Redondo, coordinator of the program, the young people were able to listen to the success story of MiDrynk from the hand of its co-founder Pablo Cejudo who gave them several keys to achieve success in entrepreneurship, such as measuring everything possible and taking into account all the feedback received during testing.
 
But the highlight of the opening ceremony was a session of speed dating in which the members of the 24 participating teams present had the opportunity to tell their ideas to expert volunteers in different areas of entrepreneurship and receive their advice.
 
The best proposals from each university will participate in the national final on June 4 and 5 in Madrid in which the winner of several prizes will be selected, among which is the one awarded by Madrid Emprende and which consists of one year of free accommodation in the incubator. of Carabanchel companies.
