As part of its commitment to the commerce of our city, the City of Madrid ensures the authenticity of the products purchased by Madrid consumers, and the fight against illegal street sales and counterfeit products.
The Director General of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Concha Diaz de Villegas, has participated today in a round table in which these issues have been discussed, together with representatives of ANDEMA, the Association for the Defense of the Brand, and of Vestiaire Collective.
At the table it has been revealed how, contrary to what is usually believed, the people who buy the most counterfeit products are not the ones who have the least purchasing power; or how organized crime is behind counterfeiting, for which this activity is one of the most lucrative. Concha Diaz de Villegas has stressed the enormous damage that illegal street vending and counterfeiting cause both to consumer rights and legal commerce, and has opined that "a value such as authenticity must be part not only of economic activity, but also of the attitude of each consumer.
This round table has taken place within the framework of La Maison de Vestiaire Collective, which is held in the Santa Barbara Palace Madrid until March 25 with the aim of bringing the world of fashion closer to all those interested in it. In La Maison de Vestiaire Collective There will be free workshops open to the public, an exhibition of exclusive products, and a permanent authentication atelier, in which attendees will be able to discover if an article is true or false.
