Canarian products are promoted in Madrid through gastronomic experiences in markets

Under this premise, the Government of the Canary Islands brings the event to Madrid Volcanic Experience, with a series of free workshops open to the public with which it is intended to publicize Canarian agri-food products, on this occasion the tropical fruits grown in the Canary Islands, whose season begins now.

From fruits such as avocado, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, banana, pitaya or papaya, all of them of Canarian origin, these gastronomic experiences for adults and children have been created in which the secrets of preparing different dishes will be revealed. sweet and savory, which include these ingredients, with the help of chefs Abraham Ortega (chef in charge of the Canarian catering 7 Delicatessen in Madrid), Miguel (Chef in charge of chef pepo project, specialized in market cuisine) and Pepo himself (Puppet Chef specialized in children's cuisine).

Fruits constitute, especially on the dates in which we find ourselves, a healthy option to incorporate into the menus for these holidays, which complies with the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO) in terms of food, which advises the consumption minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day for a balanced diet.

Volcanic Experience It has been possible thanks to the support of the Town HallMadrid, through the General Directorate of Commerce and Entrepreneurship and the participation of important municipal markets from the city center: Las Ventas Market, Prosperity Market, Santa María de la Cabeza Market and Barceló Market.

The initiative, co-financed with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), is part of the "Grow Together" project jointly developed by the Canary Islands Executive Department of Agriculture and Tourism, whose objective is to value local products and promote their marketing inside and outside the Archipelago, thus promoting the work of Canarian farmers, ranchers and fishermen. This is the first of a series of actions that will be carried out during 2018 and that will culminate in the opening of a distribution hub for Canarian agricultural productions in Madrid.
